ELLIOT JONES – SENIOR HEAD COACH

Coaching qualifications:  FFA C Licence

Coaching experience:  NPL Under 20’s

Why are you excited to be coaching at MUFC?
I believe in the talent in this region.  Murray United provides a platform for not only players but also coaches who want to take their football to the next level and I’m excited to continue growing the club and improving the standard of football in the region

What do you hope to achieve in 2018 at MUFC?
We are always after continual improvement and we would like to continue to climb the ladder and develop our juniors from within.

 

DAVID AFONSO – SENIOR ASSIST COACH

Coaching qualifications:  FFA C Licence

Coaching experience:  WFA junior & senior coach. League & Cup winning coach at senior AWFA level. 2 years NPL Under 20s Coach and assistant senior coach.

Why are you excited to be coaching at MUFC?
Coaching at a higher level with locals matching it with some of the best players in the country is a real challenge. Harnessing the talent we have and getting them ready to play a high level and coaching against some large names of Aus football is a buzz.

What do you hope to achieve in 2018 at MUFC?
We hope to finish in the top 4 and maximise player performance with enhanced game smarts and skills to dominate games. Ensuring players stay fit and healthy also is a key.

 

DARREL MILLS – U20 HEAD COACH

Coaching qualificationsFFA C Licence

Coaching experience:  3 years Senior AWFA coach (league and cup winning), 2 years Junior AWFA representative coach (Branch winners), 4 years Junior NPL coach (GV Suns U13, MUFC U14, U15, U18)

Why are you excited to be coaching at MUFC?
Very happy to be in the senior structure with this group of players, several that I had last year in the U18. I’m excited to see how many of this group push for selection and receive playing minutes in the senior’s team

What do you hope to achieve in 2018 at MUFC?
It will be a very challenging year as it’s a very young group competing against older individuals from some outstanding well-established football clubs.

My expectations from the playing group are: passion for the club, passion for your team mates and passion to succeed whilst playing a brand of football that is pleasing to watch.

Individuals need to strive to be best at training and best on field each and every time whilst being proud of themselves and proud of their team mates.

 

DAVE SMITH – U18 COACH

Coaching qualifications:  FFA C Licence

Coaching experience:  Over 20 years’ experience coaching in UK and Australia ranging from Under 10s to Seniors AWFA Representative and Riverina head Coach. Head Coach UK Country and Regional

Why are you excited to be coaching at MUFC?
The long term professional approach to the development of player performance, rather than a result driven environment.

What do you hope to achieve in 2018 at MUFC?
Simply to help improve performance, understanding and enjoyment of the game, allowing all players to take steps on the pathway to achieving their potential.

 

MATT MILDREN – GOALKEEPING COACH

Coaching qualifications:

Coaching experience:  2 years coaching AWFA Junior levels, 4 years coaching AFWA Senior Men/Women goalkeepers, 2 years coaching AWFA Junior goalkeepers, 2 years coaching AWFA Junior Representative Keepers

Why are you excited to be coaching at MUFC?
I feel as though I can give back to our local goalkeepers and help them achieve their goals, I’ll be working with an experienced team who are all striving to improve our local talents.

What do you hope to achieve in 2018 at MUFC?
Ultimately, I want to help our keepers concede less goals. I hope to teach them what it takes to be a Modern-Day Goalkeeper and help them grow into strong, confident keepers who stand out in the NPL.

 

JUNIOR & SAP SQUADS

ADAM CARTY – TECHNICAL DIRECTOR & U14 COACH

Coaching qualifications:  FFA C Licence

Coaching experience:  11 years Senior Head Coach – AWFA, 2 years NPL SAP Coach/Coordinator, 2 Years NPL – Youth, 1-year Assistant Coach State League (previous NPL)

Why are you excited to be coaching at MUFC?
Murray United presents youth players in our region with the best opportunity to follow their dream of becoming a better footballer.

What do you hope to achieve in 2018 at MUFC?
To help build a strong football program that recognises the needs of regional footballers (and coaches) to support their growth and allow them to move to the next level.

 

TERRY MASTERS – U16 HEAD COACH

Coaching experience:  3 years Junior NPL Coach, 2 years Senior AWFA Coach, 2 years AWFA Representative Coach

Why are you excited to be coaching at MUFC?
To be able to develop talented players and prepare them for senior football against the best players in Victoria.

What do you hope to achieve in 2018 at MUFC?
Improve individual players and assist them achieve their goals.

 

AARON WILLIAMS – U15 COACH

I’m looking forward to coaching some very talented youngsters coming through MUFC. The professionalism and support at the club makes it a great place to be

What do you hope to achieve in 2018 at MUFC?
I hope to help my players on their way to fulfilling the potential. I plan learn and develop my coaching abilities with the other experienced coaches.

 

RICKY PILTZ – U13 HEAD COACH

Coaching qualifications:  Senior Coaching Certificate

Coaching experience:  15 years coaching local football in both senior and junior grades.

Why are you excited to be coaching at MUFC?
I am excited to be at Murray United this year as I am keen to learn and further my knowledge as a coach.  I am really looking forward to getting involved with the new and upcoming players and help guide them to further their game.

What do you hope to achieve in 2018 at MUFC?
I expect this year to be full of challenges but with the support of Murray United, I can see this year to be a successful year where the kids learn a lot, gain experience and enjoy themselves.

 

DARYL McMILLAN – U12 HEAD COACH

Coaching experience:  AWFA (Albury Hotspurs FC), 2015 – MUFC U13 Assistant Coach, 2016 – MUFC U12 Head Coach, 2016 – Bright Red Academy Coach (Oct-Dec), 2017 – MUFC U12 Head Coach, 2017 – Bright Red Academy Coordinator (Oct-Dec), 2018 – MUFC U12 Head Coach.

Why are you excited to be coaching at MUFC?
Excited to have the support this year of a fantastic coaching team consisting of Darren Yates and U16 players Jordan Hore and Kye McMillan.

What do you hope to achieve in 2018 at MUFC?
Development of the U12 squad, both individually and as a team.

 

GONZALO FREDDI – BRIGHT RED SAP HEAD COACH

Coaching qualifications:

Coaching experience:  1 year U16 Coach at C.A. Penarol, Local League in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina; 2 years U8 Coach at Dandenong City SC, NPL Juniors; 1 year FTA Coach  (Football Technique Australia) – Elite Program in Melbourne for selected players between 7 and 12 years old; School Holidays Clinics Coach for Murray United in September 2017; Private coaching

Why are you excited to be coaching at MUFC?
Since I am in Australia I have noticed that Football is becoming bigger every year, and I feel excited about the idea of growing the regional football in the country. I will do my best to transmit my passion to kids and to encourage them to love this sport, which is the very first step to their development.

What do you hope to achieve in 2018 at MUFC?
We are aiming to have about 70 kids for Term 4, giving them the opportunity of playing different competitions during the year against quality sides in Melbourne.

My first goal is to form as many players as I can to play NPL Football next year for Murray United U12.

We will focus mainly in their technique and skill development.
